John Deere 9650 STS and 9750 STS: TM2101 or TM2102?

Choose between TM2101 repair and TM2102 diagnosis and tests for the named John Deere combines. Check the offered issue, coverage and included documents.

For John Deere 9650 STS and 9750 STS combines, TM2101 and TM2102 answer different document needs. TM2101 is the repair volume; TM2102 is the diagnosis and tests volume. Choose by the information your task requires, then confirm the offered issue and machine coverage. Buying the larger file or the familiar publication number alone does not settle that decision.

Which volume should you check first?

Information you need to locate Candidate to inspect Evidence to request before buying
Information to investigate a symptom or recorded diagnostic code TM2102 — Diagnosis and Tests The relevant system, symptom or code section in the offered issue
Information for an identified component repair TM2101 — Repair The component repair section and any separately referenced document
A job that needs investigation followed by component repair Inspect both volumes Which stages each volume covers and whether both files are included in the offer

John Deere’s Technical Information Store help distinguishes diagnostic and system information from component removal, assembly and rebuilding information. The official previews for this pair make the same separation. This table helps you choose documentation; it does not identify a faulty part or prescribe a repair.

Use a task question, not just a model search

The public TM2102 preview lists dedicated areas for codes, symptoms and system testing. The TM2101 preview lists repair areas including hydraulics, the feeder house and the unloading system. Those contents are a starting point for a document enquiry, rather than proof that every version contains the exact information you need.

For example, an enquiry about information for investigating an unloading-system symptom should ask for the relevant diagnosis section. An enquiry about repair information for an already identified unloading component should ask for the relevant repair section. If the task has not yet been defined, describe the information sought to the supplier or a qualified technician before selecting a volume. A symptom alone does not prove which component needs repair.

A reference is not a bundle

The TM2101 preview points to TM2102 and separate component publications for additional service information. TM2102 also refers to repair and supporting documents. The offered AutoManual listings state that their referenced component documents are not included.

Keep a short list of required document references for your task. Ask which are supplied by the purchase and which would need a separate enquiry. A reference printed in a manual establishes a relationship between publications; it does not mean every referenced file is part of the order. Header and engine documentation should be confirmed separately when relevant.

Compare the offered issue with the preview

AutoManual currently lists TM2101 dated April 5, 2014 and TM2102 dated October 22, 2014, both in English. The official public previews linked here are different issues: TM2101 dated March 3, 2005 and TM2102 dated April 1, 2004. They help establish the distinction between the volumes; they are not the exact previews of the offered 2014 files, and this guide does not label either offer the latest revision.

The catalog states cover serial ranges beginning at 695501 for the 9650 STS and 695601 for the 9750 STS. Match the actual machine identity and configuration to the offered document evidence before purchase. This statement does not establish applicability to an individual combine, an earlier serial or another similarly named model. Where coverage or a required section remains unclear, request confirmation instead of assuming it.

Send a clear buying enquiry

A useful enquiry can say: “I am looking for documentation for my exact combine model. I need information about this system and this task. Please confirm the publication number, issue date, language, stated machine coverage and the relevant contents section. Please also confirm which referenced documents are included.” Provide machine-identification details privately to the supplier, rather than posting them in a public comment.

Start with the TM2101 repair listing or the TM2102 diagnosis and tests listing, according to the information needed. For another machine, browse the John Deere manual hub and use our general John Deere selection guide. This pair is an example for the named combines, not a substitute for checking another model’s documentation.
